AMAZON Australia has announced plans to open its first ‘robotics fulfilment centre’ at Goodman’s Oakdale West Industrial Estate in Western Sydney.

The facility is expected to be built by late 2021.

According to Amazon, the fulfilment centre is to be equipped with advanced robotics technology and deliver a “smarter, faster and more consistent experience for its customers”.

Robots are to help speed order processing times by moving shelves to employees, reducing the time and efforts taken to stow items for sale or pick them for new customer orders and creating “a more pleasant work environment”.

The fulfilment centre is to have a total floor area of around 200,000 square metres across four levels – around the same land size as Taronga Zoo.

This building is to be Amazon’s second fulfilment centre in Western Sydney.

Amazon Australia director of operations Craig Fuller said the FC would more than double their operational footprint in Australia.

“We look forward to creating more than 1500 jobs, the majority of which are permanent full time jobs, with the opportunity to work alongside advanced robotics to deliver the ultimate in service for customers,” Mr Fuller said.

New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the new centre, once up and running, would create more than 1,500 jobs in addition to 700 construction jobs.

“Amazon’s decision to locate its first robotic centre in the Southern Hemisphere right here in Western Sydney is another great example about what the future holds,” Premier Berejiklian said.

Employment minister Stuart Ayres said Amazon’s decision was a vote of confidence in the NSW economy.

“The project will contribute to local workforce development and provide skilled employment in areas like robotics, logistics and supply chain,” Mr Ayres said.

Australian Logistics Council CEO Kirk Coningham said the Amazon announcement was a display of the confidence major freight and logistics companies had about the future.
  
“The COVID-19 pandemic has reinforced the importance of efficient, safe and resilient supply chain operations in Australia, and clearly the industry is seeking to maximise the opportunities presented by robotics and automated technology to deliver greater reliability for its customers,” Mr Coningham said.

Amazon.com.au launched in Australia in December 2017.

Amazon Robotics is to complement Amazon’s existing network of three Australian fulfilment centres launched in Dandenong South, Melbourne in December 2017, followed by Moorebank, Sydney in August 2018 and Perth’s Airport Precinct in November 2019.

Recently Amazon announced plans for a fourth fulfilment centre in Lytton, Brisbane, to be operating before Christmas 2020.

What does this tell us - well, the number one lesson is GET ON BOARD

COVID -19 has suddenly brought online business into focus.

A BIT OF STORY TELLING

First, a parable.

Years ago, a wise man related a story in his endeavour to explain compound interest to his grandson but found the effort more difficult than he had imagined.
Now through the years this story has been altered many times but the essence of it, the reality of it, the simplicity of it has never changed and is as true today as it was back then.

The grandfather attempted to explain to his grandson the benefits of investing and receiving compound interest and how the magic of compounding can literally, all by itself, make anyone with patience and determination wealthy.

He first talked about investing just $1,000 at a very modest return of only 7% and how that $1,000 would double and how the investment would return interest compounded daily and how, in just seven short years that 7% compounded daily interest would turn that $1,000 into $2,000 with no effort on behalf of the investor.
The young grandson was eager to obtain his own fortune like his grandfather had but was struggling with the concept.

So...
The grandfather offered this example...

"Young man” he said, "If I offered you $1,000 in CASH now or just ONE CENT that would double in value every day - which would you rather have from me?"
The grandson quickly answered, "Well, of course Grandpa, I'd much rather have the one thousand dollars now! Are you kidding?"

To which the grandfather replied, "All right then, let me tell you what you will be giving up."

"If you invest just one cent today, and I could show you how, if every day it doubles in value, in just 20 days it will be worth..."

It's been a while since I put up a blog over here. So much going on in our lives.

Our kids keeping us young - absolutely loving watching their progress.

Let's go from youngest to oldest.

Alexandra (my Bubba and she always will be) is now in Year 11 at Music Industry College and absolutely blossoming as a magnificent human being. Hated school before MIC, and now totally loving it - no uniforms, so every morning in front of the mirror, we have a fashion parade - at least four changes of outfit before she can launch outside the front door! Mother totally encouraging her - two divas in da house! - wouldn't be dead for quids!

She is going to school every day early because they are auditioning and rehearsing for the big one - The Triffid Concert in June - for those who don't know, the Triffid is a major music venue in the Valley in Brisbane owned by JC (John Collins) who was the bass guitarist of Powderfinger and who is on the board of the school. Every year he donates the venue to the school for the BIG CONCERT. As far as I can tell, at the moment, Bubba is doing 3 or 4 spots that night, some singing and some bass guitaring (is that a word?) - Whatever, she will make us proud.

Charlie now at the Conservatorium and learning to do what he loves - they say that if  you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life! - I experienced tha by joining the Navy at age 16 and you know what? I still haven't worked out what I want to do when I become a grown up!! Just ask the likes of Dowsing, Hooke and co... 

Maybe not but you get my drift.

Charlie and his flatmate Tex have a recording studio in their house! How good is that?

He will have his first album out, soon - can't wait.They just take songwriting and production in their stride. All my life, I have been procrastinating about writing, and they just do it.

Nick, our next one up the line has turned out to be a magnificent Dad with his lovely wife, Alyssia. Both members of the venerable NSW Police, they took a posting to Condobolin, in Central NSW after a few torrid years in Sydney and now have their first child, and our first grandson, Reed - a truly magnificent human being if I don't say so myself - one of those kids with a permanent twinkle in his eye, but then, I could be biased.

Both Nick and Lys are moving on to a new posting in northern NSW later this year, before moving on to, hopefully their final posting to Lys' home territory near Byron Bay - we don't mind if it puts us closer to our beautiful grandson, and Liljana is over the moon about it all.

James, next up the line is having a magnificent career doing what he loves as a dog handler in the ACT Prison system - not much will escape that pair's atttention. His beautiful partner, Laura, and he are well settled in Canberra (wish I was!) and very happy - we don't see enough of them. Get yourselves up here more often, will ya?

To round it out, my boy, Chris - in Sydney - getting on with life and, though we don't talk a hell of a lot, it is always lovely to be in contact. A bond that can't be broken.

That comfortable silence that makes it all the more enjoyable when you do catch up.

I am a truly lucky human because of my beautiful wife and family.

Had a small cancer scare a month or two ago - all good and the doctor said I'll easily live another 20 years! What? Does he think I'm old or something  - I 'm shooting for another 40! Too much life left to live, can't possibly slow down - I haven't written enough poems or sold enough T-shirts yet and there is a lot of Rugby to be analysed.

​AN ESSAY ON RETIREMENT – OR BETTER STILL, AVOIDING IT
The days fly by, so much to do, so much not done.
Am I the only one? In demand, wanted, sought after?
Why, am I the only person on this planet who can do all the things that people want me to?
Maybe..!
Maybe everyone else has given up, retired, hung up their figurative boots?
Or am I just one of those inquisitive people with a brain going a thousand to the dozen?
My friends who have had great careers, many of them rely on me and yet I’m older than some of them. A block of land here, a hotel opportunity there, a new website that we could start, let’s do something disruptive and be the next Uber of the {insert one} industry?
Why? Why me? Why Not?
I mean, who doesn’t like great ideas and being made to feel important?
When asked what my next career was going to be, I had to answer carefully – real estate is a thing, selling T-shirts – managing a teenage rock bank, yep, seems to be a good market out there, selling anything online, just need to put some time in  and build a few more websites, well, you can never have too many and I still haven’t learned Wordpress, yet – what is wrong with me? Where did I go wrong in my 66 obviously blinkered limited years?
Remember Year 2K – that catastrophe that never actually happened – well, I woke up next day on the number 1 day of the new millennium, and said – well that was fun, and now we are here, in C21…business as usual, but nonetheless exciting.
Fridge is still working, no major viruses infecting my computer, all the ships out on the ocean apparently still plodding along and no crisis in weather, governance or all the other million and one things that we thought would end the world, as  we knew it.
Anyone remember that? You could be forgiven for having completely forgotten one of the biggest non-events in the history of the world.
Moon still spinning around the earth – earth still spinning around the sun – sun still spinning around …you get my drift – apparently there are whole solar systems out there that dwarf ours millions of times over – I mean, where will it end? All this knowledge and learning. When will the human race finally be able to say, at last we know all there is to know?
There is that apocryphal story that went around that, in 1911, one of the US Congressmen moved a vote that the US Patent Office should be closed down, because .. “everything worthwhile has already been invented..!”
1984 came and went – George Orwell is more or less kind of forgotten, now.
I have to tell you that, for many of my friends, it will be another 20 years until they finally come kicking and screaming into the 21st Century.
Most of them still don’t know how to read their email every day.
Say what!!??
I actually believe that most of my friends think that they are writing more and more every day, because they are commenting on Facebook. I mean, how many times can a woman use the word “gorgeous” in relation to babies, puppies, cats, dogs and other irrelevant creatures in the world.
Can someone please say something original on Facebook? Please? Pretty Please?
The most abused word on Facebook – “goooor gee ussss”!! Pa-lease, get a new superlative will ya’s?
Think of some of the most expressive words in our lexicon..
These are the ones that I personally love, because they are so expressive and descriptive:

• Exuberance! – love and plenty bursting out of a cake!
• Exhilaration – satisfaction on a stick, and on steroids!
• Magnificent – the crux of the crux
• Abundance – overflowing good things in spades
• Exhilarating – feel the slipstream pushing you along on that magic ride
• Bewildering – the state of constant perplexion

Getting older is one thing but getting old is quite another.
From the age of zero we are getting older, but from the age of (bugger, I can feel that pain).. is getting old – so what – just a state of mind – as long as that mind stays young so will you and I.
Atrophy - now that could be included in those favourite words above, but it’s not – it’s a shitty word, and therefore not allowed into the lexicon – no room for it in my vocabulary.
Bugger that.   No time for that type of negativity.
So, here I stand, (or lean, supported by a bit of furniture, as the case may be) – still believing that I will get my golf handicap down, despite probably never being able to darken the doorsteps of any more golf clubs, ever again.
A 25 year old mind, irrevocably trapped inside a 66 year old body (when I read this in 45 years time, I will probably snigger and say ..”young upstart – what was he thinking?..”).
Mind is willing, legs are weak, probably never will get the call up from the Wallabies, but I’ll leave my boots in the boot, just in case.
We are the Baby Boomer generation, a mob of people that actually believes that they will live to be 100, because they all have a bit of super, they need to get it spent, without giving it to their lazy, layabout, Gen X etc kids, and they (we) all think that they (we) are bullet-proof.
Personally, I get by by not looking in the mirror too much. That could end up being depressing, especially if my hair eventually falls out, which happily hasn’t happened yet.
When I do look in the mirror, I first give myself a good pep-talk and then realise that my advice was never going to be taken seriously so then I give myself the finger, break into a laugh, and life goes on.
You wouldn’t be dead for quids!
Especially, with my two magnificent teenagers, who keep us young and on our toes, every day of the week.
Q:           How much shit can an old fart like me absorb?
A:            As much as it takes, while being pilloried for dad jokes etc – just keep shelling out the bucks, John and you’ll be fine .. !
Love them to death and plan to be around for many milestones to come – when my beautiful, magnificent little bubba leaves secondary school, I will have had 35 consecutive years of paying private school fees, and I would not have it any other way. That’s like giving away 2 houses.
But you know what, as we all know as parents, when they get to that stage of being somewhere between 14 and 17 and they have their individual “lightbulb moment” – which they do, it is a feeling that, first comes on slowly and then the realisation fills you with a kind of warmth that  you cannot describe to anyone who is not a parent. You know that they are through the worst of that hazy pubescent period and on the way to finishing their adolescence and moving into sensible young adulthood. Now we just have to teach them to be safe drivers! A new world opens up, dammit!
Exuberance!! Exhilaration!! Heaven on a Stick!
…  and satisfaction – another word that we can add to the lexicon.

It's actually nice getting older and approaching retirement. ... and I mean "approaching" because I can't yet accept it as a fact.

I'm 66 - don't misunderstand me, I truly believe that I am a young mind trapped inside that 66 year old body. I re-married and had two beautiful children in my 50's. It's not always as easy as it sounds, because your energy doesn't always match theirs, but you know what? You would not swap those and these beautiful years for anything.

You meet some truly nice people through your kids and I sometimes feel sorry for my mates (many of them firmly entrenched grey nomads) whose kids have long ago left the nest.

They bring a new dimension to your life - you get to hang around with younger parents, which is a true privilege, as they tend to keep you young and grounded, even if you have to occasionally put up with people congratulating you on your beautiful grandchildren!!

We seem to have been bringing up teenagers for about the last 30 years. I'll be sad when it ends, but every one of them has given us massive joy and pride and pleasure in their achievements, no matter how big or small.

Just this weekend, my 16 year old guitar virtuoso son played a beautiful song at his big bro's wedding - a lovesong to the bride - blew the audience away - the pride we feel in that boy is palpable. My baby girl, 15 years old, is waiting in the wings with her magnificent talents and we are constantly surprised and delighted at the magnificence of their talents - I am pretty sure that that was how our life was meant to be - I'm definitely OK with that.

As we all do, we'll watch their families develop with love and pride and admiration that those little kids of ours all turned into impressive adults. Not only that but they took on beautiful partners who add whole new dimensions to all our lives.

Yes, their is a God.

But I digress ..... I was saying, how nice to be nearly retired. I still love to work hard and I have a hugely busy job, and I go to work every day, in wonder at the fact that so many things can happen in my industry, that I can never truly plan my day with certainty. Imagine that - certainty - that could be like lying down in a shallow grave and waiting for the gravediggers to pour the dirt over you.

​No way - give me uncertainty every day of the week.

As I transition to retirement, I think back on the promises I made to myself all those years ago. I have always thought of life's work as the "hare and tortoise race". In the end, the tortoise wins.

You can race across that finish line, but how do you know it is really the finishing line? On the other hand, you can measure your life and career and know when it is time to dawdle across the line, the ultimate victor!

The interesting part is that you don't always know whether or not that finishing line is around the corner - you might think that you are on your own and you have to finish it out all by yourself, and all kinds of uncertainties may creep in.

​Keep the faith, fellow punters!

But then along comes a friend from the past who wants to join forces, and let's say he has a friend who has made his pile but just likes you for who you are and the qualities you bring to the table, and all of a sudden, your path, or your plan to that place - retirement - is much clearer. You get a new lease on life, because now there is a new and adventurous way ahead.

Imaging retiring on a pension and having to eke it out - death by a million needles!

Now, let me make it clear that I will never retire to retire - I will always retire to aspire - to work, if it is fun, or a hobby, or to help others in a charitable way, but I will never not be active - that young mind in the old body might suddenly atrophy in a way that I would not want it to.

My bones, or my muscles or my joints, might give out - every bloody chance, but hopefully not my mind and while I have that, I am empowered to do great things.

I always remember a friend of my father in law. He had made a great living in the insurance game - come 65 he had enough to retire on and, in his retirement started pursuing his hobby of restoring furniture. A couple of his mates heard about it, got him working on their stuff, and the rest is history - within 5 years he had a factory, 15 employees and more work that he could poke a stick at - and he was a very happy and contented man.

The world is full of magnificent opportunities. You discover the power and wonder of the internet. You blog, you write, a book here a poem or two there, you set up websites for fun and then for profit.

You find that an old mate has a really good real estate deal going down, so you go and renew your real estate licence that you haven't had much use for the last few years.

You help a mate with a Visa problem and realise that there is a quid to be made with the sort of knowledge and ability that you have, so you get your Immigration licence, help lots of "friends" and get a nice earn from it.

This retirement thing is easier and more fun than I thought it would be and I'm not even there yet, and then you realise that you can afford to live down by the beach, or in that beautiful part of the world, Montenegro where the wife's relatives live.

This retirement thing is starting to shape up quite nicely, come to think of it.

Some great times lie ahead.

What next - let's sell some T-shirts, or get into the golf/ fitness/ personal development/ online business/ pet industry etc etc ..... business. It's all out there and it looks like we can have some fun and make some money.

Come to think of it - I'm gonna be too busy to retire!

no particular time,

Just that, for some reason I'm

Never done it before
can't think why,
It's not that hard,

seems to get in the way,
takes over your day,
sunshine but no hay
...need to make some

opportunities come, 
and go, and though
we are busy we are also 
distracted.

that we can't redact
some of our daily routines
that are meaningless acts

Disdain for routine, wonder why?
getting older - new things to try
before the bucket and its list run dry.

Bucket list - now there's an idea.
how many events 
in our crazy career,
did we really miss out on?

you see what it brings,

roundabouts and swings, mostly
forks in the road, avoid the ghostly

then you wake up, that was close ..
...nearly got that to rhyme, too ..

This is becoming otiose.

that was a close and  frightening parameter,

mind's scrambling, bit of a mess.

Horses, boats, gadgets, disdain for all 
but one majestic sport makes them all pall ..

Early in life, discovered the magic.
a lifelong Rugby tragic,
played it, coached it, involved every way
love it, and live it every day

Knees are shot, brain is not,
I think I'll take my writing skills
out for a begrudging, limping  trot.

Write about anything,
we've got plenty of time,

Basics of Private Label Rights - Its Importance and Its Implication in Internet Marketing

It is almost trite to say that the Internet has created many more business opportunities than before it came along. This is because, over its just 20 year lifespan the Internet has provided more viable means of disseminating information about products and business, than in the previous hundred.

We hear people saying that traditional retail is dying and the internet is the way of the future. Partly right and partly wrong, because the traditional retailers are finding ways to fight back, making all of us more innovative and ready to adopt new ideas - a win-win all around.

Many online entrepreneurs contend that for an online business to generate good income on the Internet, each entrepreneurs business must have its own product. This is because everything depends on someone selling something, whether it be a tangible product, a virtual product, an idea, a book, a song, a game or a concept and whether you can touch it and feel it, just picture it.

But contrary to most popular beliefs, having your own product does not limit you to the many possibilities of earning more by using a "license" that is attached with an "information product" that you may acquire online. These are known as PRIVATE LABEL RIGHTS

Private label rights is just one of the three "basic rights" that are embodied in the concept of resale rights marketing. Among the three, private label rights are considered as the most moneymaking and rewarding.

There are many authors and publishers out there who are happy for their work to be shared, for a fee, or free, and re-worked, with or without attribution/

It is a wonderful way of bootstrapping your business and using other peoples'work (legally) while you find time, ideas or money necessary to reproduce your own original work

Private label rights are represented in a certificate or authorization that is attached with an "information item." The basics of private label rights is to permit people to transform, reorganize, change, or improve the elements of the said merchandise.

For example, if you have a private label right, you can easily segregate the contents of an e-book, and persuade somebody to buy the contents as sequence of pieces of writing, so that you have a ready-made series of articles that you can use to provide your content.

In addition, with private label rights, you can simply add, subtract, update, or append some information on the said product to make it more meaningful and creative, thereby creating an impression of having a product of your own.

Best of all, you can even put your name to the work as the author. In this way, you do not have to acknowledge the primary author of the work, and you gain some credibility while, as I said before, finding the time, the money or the opportunity to produce your own wor.

So for those who are not yet aware of the rewards of using private label rights, here is a list of some of the advantages:

1. It Will Establish Credibility

We have all heard the saying "fake it til you make it"- PLR allows you to do just that, but legally

With private label rights, you can easily acquire informative products that you can use as your own. Hence, this creates an impression that you are making your own product and that you are professional and skilled.

One of the best things about private label rights is that you can be creative in a thousand and one ways. This is because you can assemble the different elements and come up with a new and near-original work without having any difficulty of creating such product.

3. Develop a Product!

With private label rights, you can simply modify or improve a product. You can both cut back wasteful time by looking for products that are totally worthless or save more money by avoiding to create a whole new product.

However, even if some people argue that it is unethical for a person to sell the private label rights for his creations, one cannot simply surmise the fact that engaging into this kind of activity is also beneficial to the seller especially if the product is already nearing the closing stages of its "market life."

Soem products may be nearing the end of their useful or economic lives.  By allowing other people to modify or enhance the features of certain products, the advancement of such products can continue to take place and the cycle goes on.

Indeed, the basics of private label rights are useful to the individual and the whole market as well. This is because PLR is a whole system of a give and take relationship.

Making Money With Private Label Rights

When you buy a product with only the rights to resale, you only will have the authority to sell that product to others. However, when you buy a certain product with private label rights, then you not only have the authority to sell such product to others but also you will have the alternative ability to sell the “resale rights” for that same product. 

Meaning that certain individuals who bought from you the “resale rights” of that certain product in which you own the “master resale rights” will therefore get hold of the authority to sell such products to others.

Purchasing “PLR” (private label rights) packages is inexpensive when compared to employing the service of a “ghost writer” to write articles or ebooks for you. On average, PLR articles costs between 10 – 20 cents, while a ghostwriter generally charges from $10 - $30 for one good quality article.

You can usually modify or revise the article’s content in whatever way you want.  For instance, when you purchased a package of say 30 articles on the subject of “Landscaping”, you can construct an original ebook out of all 30 articles and call it "Lisa’s 30 Quick Tips For Landscaping” and then sell it in Clickbank. 

You can also sell your very own ebook on eBay then produce affiliate sales or even lead traffic or prospects to your website through links included your book. 

Where the PLR package you purchased came in an ebook format already, you can separate the entire book into separate individual articles, where each article can be posted in your website, get spidered by search engines and bring more traffic.

Likewise, you can use each articles’ first paragraph in an autoresponder follow-up series then incorporate a link directing prospects to the full article located in your website. Or put together two articles to create a special report that you can use as motivation or incentive so prospects will enroll for a newsletter.

Here are guidelines on how to make money with private label rights:

1. Construct articles that will be displayed for your site.

Affix your byline or resource box to all articles then publish them. Permit visitors to “republish” your articles in exchange for publishing also your “resource box” in their site. This will spread your advertisement over the web at the same time increase your “link popularity”.        

2. Publish ezine articles. 

Affix your byline or resource box to your articles then publish and distribute in your “ezine”.  Announce that your articles can be republished if your subscribers will publish your “resource box”. Aside from the fact that this will spread your advertisement as well as increase link popularity, this can also improve your “page rank”.

3. Offer PLR articles as free bonuses. 

This will increase your products’ perceived value and encourage prospects purchase your products. 

4. Offer PLR articles as bonuses for opt-in list.   

It will entice visitors to sign up for your email list.   

5. Create your very own original info-products. 

​Modify or rewrite the articles so to create a completely different article, include yourself as the author.

6. Create completely new articles to submit to ezine “article directories”.  “free article directories”. 

7. Create and then trade your content with different websites. Affix your byline or resource box and then trade them with many high traffic sites.

8. Make articles out of your PLR articles and then promote other person’s products.  Affix your byline or resource box to promote an “affiliate program”.

9. Make promotional content for your “affiliates”. With your byline or resource box, permit your “affiliates” to incorporate their “affiliate link” to your articles. 

10. Construct whole new original info-products then sell also resale rights. 

Almost all PLR packages are controlled to only a certain quantity of buyers; so there is no worry that 'your' material will show up 3 million times over on Google. 

Having the authority to rewrite, modify or alter the PLR articles indicate that your article is entirely different from everyone else’s who purchases and repackages that same article or material. 

Before purchasing any PLR package, carefully read and understand the terms and make certain that you will have authority to rewrite, alter, delete or cut the content in whatever way you want it and affix your name unto your new article.
